Compared with traditional lead-acid batteries and ternary lithium batteries, LiFePO4 batteries have five prominent advantages in the application of solar street lamps, directly solving the pain points of outdoor lighting:
1.Ultra-high security, eliminating risks
The thermal decomposition temperature of lithium iron phosphate material is as high as 800℃ (about 200℃ for ternary lithium batteries), and it does not contain heavy metals such as cobalt and nickel. Even in extreme situations such as puncture, compression, and overcharging, there will be no fire or explosion. It is fully suitable for outdoor unattended street lighting scenarios (such as rural roads and remote scenic spots).
2.Ultra-long service life, reducing replacement costs
The cycle life can reach over 3,000 times (the national standard requires ≥ 2,000 times). Calculated at one charge and discharge per day, the service life can reach 8 to 12 years (lead-acid batteries only last 2 to 3 years), significantly reducing the frequency of battery replacement and maintenance costs. A certain measured data shows that after 3,000 cycles, the capacity retention rate of LiFePO4 batteries is still ≥80%, while the capacity of lead-acid batteries has dropped below 60% after 500 cycles.
3.Wide temperature adaptability, suitable for extreme climates
The operating temperature range is -20 ℃ to 60℃ (some low-temperature models can reach -30 ℃). In the extremely cold northern regions (such as Northeast China), there will be no sudden drop in capacity in winter, and it can also operate stably in the high-temperature southern environments (such as Hainan), solving the problem of traditional batteries being "afraid of both cold and heat".
4.High charge and discharge efficiency ensures more reliable battery life
It supports high-current charging and discharging (1C-2C rate), and the solar photovoltaic panels have a higher charging efficiency during the day and can quickly store electricity even on cloudy days. The depth of discharge can reach 100% (for lead-acid batteries, it is recommended to be ≤80%, otherwise it will affect the lifespan). Under the same capacity, the actual endurance is stronger. For example, a 24V/50Ah LiFePO4 battery can meet the continuous lighting of a 50W street lamp for 10 to 12 hours (theoretical endurance = battery capacity × voltage ÷ power) That is, 50Ah×24V÷50W=24 hours. The actual loss is approximately 50%-60% of the theoretical value.
5.Lightweight and environmentally friendly, more convenient for installation and maintenance
The energy density is approximately 130-180Wh/kg, which is 40% to 60% lighter than lead-acid batteries of the same capacity (for example, a 24V/50Ah LiFePO4 battery weighs about 6kg, and a lead-acid battery weighs about 15kg), reducing the load-bearing pressure on street lamp poles and simplifying the installation process.
